Unveiling the Beauty of a Christian
In our salvation, God unveils,
His beauty in us, His love prevails.
Psalms 149: The High Praises of God. There are two parts to this Psalm. In the first (v1–6a) the saints are singing. In the second (v6b-9) they are reigning. It started with “Praise ye the LORD” (v1) and ended with the same “Praise ye the LORD” (v9). This congregation of saints are praising God in this whole chapter.
How beautiful it is to join with them today praising God with His beautiful people… why? Psalm 149:4 declares, “For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.” — These words remind us of the deep love and delight that our God has for His children.
He takes pleasure in us and bestows upon us the gift of salvation, transforming our lives and making us beautiful in His sight. Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”
Praise is not only a form of expression, glorifying God; it can be our weapon to confuse the enemy, dispels darkness, and releases breakthroughs. It happened to the old testament saints in 2 Chronicles 20:22 “And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.”
Acts 16: In the depths of prison, Paul and Silas faced a discouraging moment, a challenging place for any minister to be. But they chose to praise the Lord despite suffering beatings and stripes. The amazing part in v26, “And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.”
Heartfelt praise transforms our perspective, diminishing circumstances, creating an atmosphere of faith, hope, and joy, reminding us of God’s faithfulness, and infusing us with strength and courage amidst trials.
David, in his difficult times still declares in Psalms 34:1–4: “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.”
Our God is full of love and compassion, He takes delight in our worship, obedience, and righteous pursuits in His people. As we wholeheartedly praise Him, we draw closer to our Creator, who knows us intimately. In Him we are a sweet-smelling savor, 2 Corinthians 2:15 declares, “For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:”
In a world that often measures worth and beauty by external standards, Psalm 149:4 reminds our true value and beauty come from our relationship with God. He delights in His people, not because of outward appearances or accomplishments, but because we belong to Him. We are His cherished creation, “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalms 139:14).
God finds delight in us and desires to manifest the beauty of His salvation in our lives. Through the gift of salvation, we are transformed from within. 2 Corinthians 5:17 affirms, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” Through salvation, we are clothed with His righteousness, and His beauty shines through us.
Brethren, while the world may not see the beauty it desires in us, I praise and thank our Lord and Saviour, He made me beautiful through His salvation. “For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.” –
By God’s grace, we can embrace our identity as His beloved children. Allow His transforming salvation from the inside out, bringing beauty, joy, and praise; as we confidently walk as fearfully and wonderfully made individuals.
