YOUR Writing To-Don’t List
Using wisdom in your To-Don’ts
Most of us have Writing To-Do Lists and most of us want to write about every creative thought NOW.
On and on those to-do lists go, long, long, long, day after day.
Have you ever created a To-Don’t List?
Let me explain how mine came about:
The other day I found that I’d chosen and written a piece on my To-Do List which, when finished, I wish I hadn’t written. Sure, it was a good piece to write…but the timing was off and I should NOT have written it at that moment in time!!!! I had wasted my precious time in writing something for nothing.
So, what can be done about this tendency to make To-Do Lists so long, so unable to be managed?
I CAN still write my extensive Writing To-Do List. I CAN still get it all out of my brain and onto paper to see what needs to be done. That does NOT mean I am to accomplish all of it in one day….NOW.
Once everything is listed on paper, then I can start pulling things off of that comprehensive list, putting some items on the TODAY To-Do List.
Whatever is left over is my To-Don’t list for the day!
I love that time of editing my list— removing, rearranging and prayerfully deciding what GOD wants written that day. He never expects us to do more than is humanly possible in a given 24 hours.
Thus, we can make our lists but let’s also realize that some items may be To-Don’ts.
Wisdom is the key and, oh, how we need Wisdom to live our lives!
If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask Him, and He will gladly tell you, for He is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask Him; He will not resent it. James 1:5
