Archangel Raphael on Depression and the Stigma Associated with Mental Health
The Angel of Healing explores mental health
I believe that if we talk more about mental health issues, we’ll all learn more and feel safer talking about our own experiences. Most people can relate to depression in some way.
We call it different names melancholy, having the blues, being down, and more. The duration of an episode of depression and the frequency will vary from person to person. Some people go through bouts of depression while others are diagnosed with clinical depression.
No matter where you find yourself, know that others can relate. Depression may be more common than you think. According to the World Health Organization, WHO, 280 million people across the world have depression.
That’s a lot of people, but the problem is not everyone can gain access to mental health services. And even if they can they often don’t because of the negative stigma that comes along with seeking mental health services.
Mental health issues are close to my heart. I’ve struggled with anxiety and to a lesser degree depression on and off for most of my life, it’s connected to my ADHD. But I didn’t know that for a long time. Some of my loved ones also manage mental health issues as well.
