When things are going well, we feel happy and joyful; when they go wrong, our world darkens and we feel sad. Viewing life from this perspective is a weak approach.

However, everything that happens to you is beautiful and certainly instructive. Most importantly, it provides an opportunity for personal growth and heals the parts of yourself that need healing.

  • Milton Erickson

It is always necessary to look at events from a multidimensional perspective. In fact, this is what is meant when it is said,

“Don’t become the event.”

When an event occurs, a person looks at it and reacts based on their ego’s relationship with the event.

Sometimes they become sad, grieve, and get angry, and sometimes they become happy and joyful. This is because the event either pleases them or bothers them. Naturally, the reaction develops accordingly.

All these are the results of looking at the event one-dimensionally, that is, from a selfish perspective.

However, because it is impossible to understand anything from the cover, those who understand this say,

“Wait a minute, why are you looking at the cover of the event? What use is the cover to us, we need what’s inside…”

The cover is completely different, and what’s inside is completely different.

It is difficult to get information about the inside just by looking at the external appearance of an event. It is like watching a vase in a museum. A person just looks and stands there, making comments about the decorations and patterns on the outside. However, the material inside is completely different.

First of all, every event takes shape in accordance with universal laws. Then, every event aims to achieve development according to these same universal laws.

In other words, events are tools for “evolution.” Therefore, it is necessary to look at what is inside, not at the cover. If one looks at the cover, they deal with patterns and decorations.

However, if one looks inside, one can ask the question of which aspect of oneself this event is meant to evolve, and which deficiency it is meant to complete. Chasing this question brings “knowledge.” Only then can one gain real benefit from that experience. Otherwise, a person just spends time complaining about what has happened to them.

Those who prefer not to waste time complaining about past events anymore may appreciate the book by Byron Katie mentioned in the following article. And, without purchasing the book, you can still easily apply The Work of Byron Katie by reading the article below.
