Energy Liberation vs Energy Suppression

I have a vivid childhood memory of wading into a shallow, muddy lake, holding a plastic bucket, when I came across the biggest toad I’d ever seen (which wasn’t so many toads, but still impressively large). Something flipped in my brain, and I was on a hunt to catch him (or her) in that bucket. As I remember, the toad jumped away easily the first time, lethargically the second time, and then I caught him on perhaps the third attempt. I think I was surprised I actually caught it. But it’s what happened when I really looked at the toad that I was struck by something else. I can still see the yellow bucket, and how it engulfed the entire bottom. I saw its eyes, they looked up at me in what felt like a resigned and sad way, and I felt a jolt of shame. I freed the toad, watched him swim away into the muddy water. Although I don’t think I ever even discussed this with my parents or friends, I must admit that moment had a profound effect on my development.

What I believe seared this in my mind so indelibly, was that feeling of shame in making a fundamental error in dealing with energy. I used my power to impose my will on a weaker soul, and that made me a monster internally for a second. My whole life, I’ve identified with the underdog, and I think it may go back to the disgust I felt with myself for even momentarily stealing the freedom of another sovereign soul. A sovereign piece of the Godhead is fundamentally inside each living creature, therefore we should take our actions with that in mind, and trust our intuition when we feel we’ve violated our truth.

Each shadow has a corresponding light, and just as that feeling of suppressing another can bring instant shame — the other end of the spectrum is liberation energy. The energy that leads a being to embody their truth, revel in their freedom, and move towards awakening. Helping an injured animal regain its health. Assisting a friend achieve their goals. Sharing wisdom with the next generation. Working with mother Earth in mind in all of our actions. Life is a unceasing stream of situations, and through them all stands the challenge. We have to take the time to exist in the larger truths and not get dragged into the shadows, where our gain must be at the expense of others. Earthy power and wealth can be gained in the shadows — the path of true abundance however lies in the path of liberation. The laws of karma are very real. Those that gain through the shadow path should be pitied for their shortsightedness.

As viewed through the chakra framework, there is no way to personally suppress someone energetically, to push any of their chakras into an unbalanced state — without attuning oneself within that chakras shadow frequency, deficient or excessive, in order to lash out. When I chased that toad and put him in that bucket, I was in the shadow excessive frequency of the root chakra, which is said to be a domineering, selfish energy. I felt the imbalance as the slap of shame, which is the lowest possible vibration. That action was a disservice to both of our souls. Using our power as a cudgel against others is an illusion that truly hurts both sides of the situation. The act of helping from the higher position, showing mercy, is our Source-like ability to use our own gifts to uplift others. In this world, you are a note of music nobody else can sound — it’s up to each of us to be a light of attunement to the collective, a beautiful uplifting note.
