How to Let Go of Imposter Syndrome as a Spiritual Coach or Yoga Teacher
Get Out of Your Own Way
My Imposter Syndrome
I completed my teacher training (education) in 2011 and performed well. By now, my spiritual journey has already spanned over 25 years.
But when I finally stepped into teaching and began offering spiritual classes, I experienced imposter syndrome.
The high scores from my training and even the deepest spiritual wisdom I had gathered took a backseat — because now, it was my turn to lead.
The path of a spiritual teacher is not always lit with clarity.
Many new and even seasoned spiritual coaches silently wrestle with imposter syndrome.
It shows up in thoughts like:
- “What if no one joins my class?”
- “Will others recognize my expertise or consider me a fraud?”
- “Is it okay to guide others while I’m still learning?”
- “What if they question my worthiness to lead this work?”
One day, I asked myself,
“Spirituality is the only path I’ve consistently studied and walked on since my childhood. If I don’t muster the courage to teach and offer sessions, then what will I do?”
