As an energy healer, I have been connected with various cultures and their belief systems, both in the physical and spiritual realms. This journey through and beyond beliefs has led me to a personal mystical understanding of the divine presence in action throughout the whole of life. At its core, it is an understanding that the divine presence has no religion and is fully available to all in a very direct and personal way.

I have a personal relationship with infinite beings of light — divine messengers — called Archangels. You have this connection, too; you just may not be aware of it.

These beautiful beings of unconditional love have guided me through countless meditations and Reiki sessions, offering gentle guidance and loving support for truth, healing, and upliftment. Occasionally, I am given direction or assignments, you might call them, that will assist in raising the planet’s collective vibration. This is one of those times.

What is Michaelmas?

I am guided to celebrate the day of Michaelmas in honor of Archangel Michael, Archaea Faith, and the octave of the Archangels. This day is traditionally celebrated in many parts of the world on September 29th and falls near the Autumnal Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, it is the time of the Vernal Equinox.

In the ancient Celtic traditions, this aligns with Mabon, a fire festival marking the end of the harvest as the nights grow longer and the light diminishes. It is a reflection of life energies going inward as the days become shorter and colder.

The term Michaelmas first came into use in the Middle Ages, as the Christian Church set aside this day to celebrate the feast of Saint Michael the Archangel with a mass of honor, Michaelmas. Think in terms of Christmas as the Christ mass. Traditionally, this is a celebration of reverence for the warrior Archangel who fought (and still does) for humanity's protection, purity, and transmutation.

Archangelic beings are fully and inextricably united with their twin flame.

Unlimited by time and space, Archangel Michael is able to be with all of humanity at once if they so call. When one calls upon this divine messenger and protector, they will receive a fully balanced energy — neither masculine nor feminine — integrated. Archangelic beings are fully and inextricably united with their twin flame, as they were at the point of creation. Unlike human beings, Archangels enjoy a non-binary fullness as one, not apart.

Today, humanity tends to lean to the masculine for its guidance, leadership, and protection. Thusly, the feminine aspect of this divine messenger is often overlooked or, worse, forgotten. I am guided to (re)introduce you to the feminine aspect of the first ray, as a unified being of infinite light and unconditional love, Archaea Faith. Integrated as one, Archangel Michael and Archaea Faith are balanced, whole, and complete.

If you have had a previous relationship with Archangel Michael, Archaea Faith has always been there, too. This new light may allow you to feel the divine presence and support in a new way that is strong, stable, and balanced. When I call them both in, by name, they will unfold themself to stand on either side of me, like pillars of love and light.

Both energies work in concert to help free humanity from its bonds of fear. The feminine temperament amplifies the energy of strength that fortitude brings. As Archangel Michael helps to cut the cords that fear has created, it is faith, and Faith, that holds the counterpoint to fear.

Human beings, being human, are limited by time and space, a temporary experience with temporal constraints and spatial restrictions. However, mindful use of time and space can make up for myriads of material obstacles.

As our calendar turns once again to the shortening of days and the thinning of the veil between the physical and the spiritual, our inwardly focused life force prepares us for the new. It is the time of Archangel Michael, Archaea Faith, and the octave of the Archangels to come forward in service to God and reverence for life on the earthly plane.

Michaelmas is the start of a season of great connection to the Archangel octave, where we become clearer in our higher communication and more receptive to the messages of light available to all. As we move into the month of October, we have the opportunity to release all that we have been working on at the soul level. I cannot imagine doing this work without the help and loving guidance of the Archangels and Ascended Masters.

Celebrations of Michaelmas

To honor this intentional time of release, there are beautiful ways you can call in Archangel Michael, Archaea Faith, and the Archangels, beautiful beings of infinite light and unconditional love. Below are a few suggestions to get you started:

  • Set aside time in meditation or prayer, calling in Archangel Michael and Archaea Faith for guidance and protection.
  • Create an altar place in your home, representing the four elements. Bring the outer life indoors — leaves, branches, wildflowers. Place a small bowl of water on the altar as a symbol of your connection to the deeper wisdom that connects your physical being with Mother Gaia. Burn a candle, calling in the light when it is dark, in honor of Michaelmas.
  • In prayer or meditation, set the intention of knowing the truth about some aspect of yourself that has been left in the shadows for far too long. You will open the door to great light in your life with your willingness to know the truth, not just assumptions or perceptions.
  • This being a time to release the past and the karmic burden of the unresolved, ask the beautiful Archangels — Michael and Faith — for assistance in blessings, healing, and releasing all that holds you back on your spiritual journey. You will be blessed in the asking.
  • Create a feast of intention for yourself and/or others. Choose healthy fruits of the latest harvest, eating locally grown and mindfully sourced foods. A few traditional foods enjoyed at Michaelmas are blackberries (not to be eaten after Michaelmas), carrots, and bannock bread (traditional Scottish recipe here). Many still enjoy a Michaelmas Goose. However, the tradition started for a less than spiritual reason. Follow your inner guidance, as always.
  • This is a beautiful time to assist others. Perhaps spend some time in service to those in need, as you receive assistance from the Archangel octave. This action of giving and receiving is very much in alignment with the flow of energy of life supporting life, for giving and receiving are one action. Step into this stream and watch how the blessings are multiplied.

As for myself, I invite the community to gather for a sound bath guided meditation on Michaelmas Eve and Michaelmas Day. We intentionally release the past and welcome the guidance of the Archangel realm for the coming season in the journey of the soul. This year, I may even back a little Bannock.

May you always feel the blessings of the divine presence and the Angels that hover with you.
