Stop Reaching for Enlightenment
Your Greatest Achievement on the Spiritual Path is Complete Surrender
If you’ve read any of my other work you’ll know I have a big problem with religion, rigid spiritual ideology, and hierarchy of any kind.
I believe these systems divest us of our personal power; they often sneakily introduce the idea that we are somehow separate from the Divine, even though they purport to help us get closer to it.
For, example, there are lots of words thrown around in the spiritual community that suggest hierarchy even without outright saying “That person is probably better than you”.
The referential “master” is one of them. It makes me cringe every time I hear it. It signifies that this person is far advanced in spiritual tools and practices, so much so that they have reached enlightenment.
A mystical, magical place where there is no suffering, only peace, and they’ve surpassed all earthly desire or something.
Maybe you don’t know exactly what it means, actually, but you know they’re better than you at this whole spirituality thing, right? Right.
