Two Versions of a Poem
What Simply and Always Is
I am enlightened, and I have never been enlightened.

I am enlightened
I am never enlightened
Both are true
I am everything
I am nothing
Both are true
I am this body and mind
I am not this body and mind
Both are true
I am my past and future
I am only the present moment
Both are true
I am doing this
I am not doing this
Both are true
Everything is true
Nothing is true
Both are true
I cannot say what this is
Because I can never only know what simply always is
Chop wood, carry water
What simply always is
