Why is There Such Discrimination Around Divination AKA Being Psychic?

I have been re-watching the Harry Potter movies lately. I feel right at home in the world of magic, although I’m more of a Lord of the Rings type of person. But the free-flowing magic in the Harry Potter movie is fun to immerse in.

In Harry Potter 3, The Prisoner of Azkaban something I’d missed when watching the first time was how strange they made the divination teacher. Even to witches and wizards. Hermione says, “If you ask me divination is a very wooly discipline.” Meaning it’s vague and not as reliant as hard facts.

True, but that’s kind of the point.

Seeing into the future, or the present or past for that matter requires reading energy. Or, that’s what I call it. The energy feels a certain way, or I get images, and I translate those into words.

When we look into the future, it isn’t set in stone. It’s a potential path. No one can say with 100% certainty what is going to happen because there are too many variables involved. One of the most significant variables is free will.
