Our voyage into board gaming
Rolling back six years, we created our wedding and honeymoon budget on a spreadsheet. We analyzed our spending habits. Most of our disposable income went on meals out, socializing at bars, watching films at the cinema, and ordering takeout. So we decided to stay in more to save money.
Here is where board games entered our lives.
Costing up the hours of value
The idea of spending money on a new board game instead of going out for meals was a choice we made. We weighed up the entertainment value by doing some math.
A board game costs around £20. If the game has re-playability and typically lasts about 1–2 hours of gameplay, that worked out cheaper than the cinema, which was costing around £30 per trip when factoring the cost of fuel, tickets, snacks, and drinks.
