Cruz to Voters: “Ignore What Any of Us Say”

Manchester, NH — A disco ball hung from the ceiling of the American Legion Sweeney Post 2 during the standing-room only event for Sen. Ted Cruz Monday afternoon. Cameras flashed and light danced off the dance hall ornament as the senator stood in front of a backdrop plastered with “TrusTed” over “Courageous,” “Conservtive” and “Consistent.” Over the course of this rally, Sen. Cruz made it his goal to showcase how he possesses these qualities.

“You know, as the people of New Hampshire are making their final decisions,” Mr Cruz stated, “I think the distinction, the choice that people are making is do they want to go with a campaign conservative — someone who talks a good campaign — or do they want a consistent conservative — someone who has been the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.”

“Ignore what any of us say,” said Mr. Cruz. “When’s the last time you had a politician say that?”

“Instead, follow the biblical test: ‘You shall know them by their fruits’” and ask the politicians ‘show me when you stood and fought,’” continued Mr. Cruz.

Mr. Cruz then followed with a series of instances of his “fruits,” times in the past when he defended his campaign promises, taking a moment to target Mr. Rubio on his inconsistency.

“Don’t simply listen,” Mr. Cruz instructed the crowd, “Ignore our campaign rhetoric” and “empty campaign promises.” Mr. Cruz continued, “Hold me accountable.”

Supporters remarked on this aspect of Cruz’s character. The integrity of his willingness to be held to his word.

Joel Tavis, 13, of Dunbarton, NH said he was deciding between favoring Donald Trump or Mr. Cruz. Before the event Monday, Tavis said that he was leaning “a little more to Trump,” but after Cruz spoke he shifted his “vote” “a little more to Cruz.”

Mr. Tavis describes Mr. Cruz as “truthful” and “He’ll do what he says.”

When asked if any other candidates possessed this quality, Mr. Tavis stated, “Trump a little bit,” but “Trump says a lot of things.”

Israel Mendelwitz of New York, NY attended the rally at the American Legion. When asked what he appreciates about Cruz, Mr. Mendelwitz stated bluntly, “He’s not a bullshitter.” Mendelwitz continued, “He says what he’s gonna do.”

Mr. Mendelwitz said of Mr. Cruz, “Everyone lies, but he lies less.”
