All of the Bike Rides!
It’s been a while now since I posted anything in here, so I figure I need to break that trend. There are a few things I’ve been meaning to post — my routes across town that manage to avoid major roads, some thoughts on New Haven biking, a list of bike lanes coming soon (hopefully) to New Haven — but in the meantime….
It’s Bike Month! Did you know?
Yeah, I mean, I’m of the “every month is bike month” variety, too, but heck…it’s bike month!
I’m sure you’re fully aware of all the rides, but there are two this week that I’m helping out host, and I thought you should know.
First up, tomorrow (Thursday) is the Bikes, Books & Beer Ride, which will be a 6–10 mile ride around New Haven that will involve a couple library tours with super knowledgeable hosts, and will end with some beer and grub over at The Beer Collective. We meet at the flagpole on the green around 5:45 and head out around 6 or 6:15-ish.
Then! Friday morning is Bike to Work Day and Elm City Cycling is hosting a Bike to Work Day Breakfast on the Farmington Canal Trail just south of Fussy Coffee, 7:30–9:30am. Who doesn’t like free breakfast and coffee!?
Finally, SATURDAY SATURDAY SATURDAY — the Full Moon Cruise!
The Full Moon Cruise will be a no-drop, all-levels ride, especially for the first part. We meet at the flagpole on the green at 7:45 to depart 8-ish and ride along the shore to West Haven Beach, out and back. At this point, anyone who doesn’t want to continue can depart at the green.
For those who want to continue, I think what better way to howl at the full moon than from the top of one of our local rocks? While all are still welcome to join, this will be a bit more strenuous and will be a little less accessible to new riders, so buyer beware.
