The Crescent Street Cycle Track-To-Be

As I rode north on the new Sherman Street bike lanes, I decided to make a quick left on Munson to go check out the traffic circle over that way, and was suddenly confronted with the beginnings of a cycle track along the eastern/northern side of Crescent Street. So, I took some pictures to share.

Here’s the cycle track leading up to the traffic circle from the south. The ramp isn’t complete yet, but bikes will be directed to an off-road path to cross Munson at the cross walk, rather than forcing bikes to take the lane.

Looking from the traffic circle south — I’m not exactly sure how far down the track goes here, though today it was filled with buses. :/

Again, the unfinished transition to the north side of the traffic circle.

And then, a short distance up the road, the currently-awkward end of the cycle track. Obviously, this was just done on the repaved area, but I wonder (without doing any further research) what will be next here — hopefully it will extend the distance of Crescent from Blake to Goffe.

And finally, a better look at the cycle track itself — slightly buffered, with cars parked between the track and the lane of car traffic.

What do you think?

For my money, this is actually a perfect place for a cycle track. I’ve railed against them in the past, when they cross driveway after driveway (especially busy commercial drives) and street intersections, but this stretch of road seems quite suitable. Plus! It’s a cycle track to a school, which is nice.
