Welcome to New-ish to Newbies: Navigating DevOps Together
Here, I will do my best to help new DevOps/Operations/SRE technicians with tips and lessons I’ve learned, which I believe will help you in your career.
Who Am I?
My name is Jens, and I live in Sweden. Even though I’ve been in the IT industry for over five years, I still consider myself “new-ish.” I’m an IT professional who has worked as a Systems Engineer, Consultant, and CloudOps Engineer during my career.
Seven years ago, I decided to switch careers, and I enrolled in a two-year vocational education program called DevOps Engineer at a Swedish polytechnic institute. The program included six months of internship. This was one of the best decisions of my life, as being an IT professional is both rewarding and fun.
I believe in paying it forward, so I regularly try to help students at the school I attended. This blog is my next step in helping new IT professionals enter the exciting world of IT.
Why Should You Listen to Me?
I know there are a lot more knowledgeable technicians out there, and many of them are also here on Medium. However, I hope to provide a different perspective, as I still remember what I didn’t know at the beginning compared to what I know now. I believe that sharing these insights could have helped me back then, and I hope they will help you now.
My articles won’t be deep dives into different technologies but will focus on how you can easily get started using them to help you in your new journey.
