The Second Time Around is Better
How many people marry the same man twice?
The phone rings, and it is Ricardo, my ex-husband. I had not spoken with him for about a year. He always calls on my birthday.
About the past
Ricardo and I have been divorced for about eight years. Every so often we would get together, but we could not mend our differences. He still drank a lot, which affected his responsibilities. Now and then, he would show up at my work, and I would have to tell him to leave. I could not have him hanging out while waiting on customers at the bar.
After eight years, I was tired of working in a bar. I wanted out of the bar scene and live an everyday family life, but I had no clue how to. I should have stayed in school and learned another trade. This was the only way I could support myself and my children was by working for tips, and they were great.
Other men
During the eight years of divorce, I never dated anyone worth marrying or I loved as deeply as I did Ricardo. You cannot expect to meet someone at a bar; they are not the right person for good marriage material. I know there may be acceptations but not what I saw.
