When the Moment…
Just one more step is all it takes, and then…
Trigger warning: includes references to suicide.
Maybe it will be like this, Matthew thinks.
Maybe it won’t even be his decision.
And maybe it will be better that way.
When the moment comes.
Just.
From up above, he will be able to see the spire of the church at the end of his road. It will be close enough to touch. Maybe he’ll wish that it could touch him. After what had happened. And what has brought him here.
Matthew suspects that he won’t have eyes for the scenery at all. With just one exception.
Just one.
He won’t be able to avoid the sight for long. Not after something so very senseless had happened out there.
The wind will whip itself up at such a height, blowing his hair into his eyes. Ordinarily, he would be bothered and would stop to fuss it all back into position. But at a time like this? Surely nothing anyone thought of him could matter once he decided to scale those last few feet to the top?
Just one more.
