Welcome to The Tilt! Stay and read (or better yet write) for a while.

The Tilt is a publication powered by New Media Advocacy Project to explore the world of rights, social justice, feminisms, storytelling, and narrative change.

We think the world doesn’t just need effective human rights laws, but an entrenched culture of human rights. Narratives help perpetuate anti-rights structures and beliefs, but they can also help upend those structures and beliefs, and paint a believable picture of a different world.

And what if, on top of this, we centred human emotions and creativity to revisit conflict and opposition? This is where the Tilt comes in!

A publication that questions set paradigms around social justice and reflects on our conditionings, the narratives around us, and where to go next. We publish articles, videos, and visual work of all kinds that examine contemporary vehicles for cultural production and narrative change.

How to write for us

From hot takes to long reads, we want to hear from YOU — filmmakers, artists, researchers, data scientists, activists, and concerned citizens. Send us your article pitches or cross-post requests.

To keep in mind when you pitch, we write about things that are sometimes difficult to discuss but we want to continue doing this from a place of love and care. Like the mighty bell hooks said “It is possible to speak with our heart directly. Most ancient cultures know this. We can actually converse with our heart as if it were a good friend. In modern life, we have become so busy with our daily affairs and thoughts that we have lost this essential art of taking time to converse with our heart.”

Email our Editor Virginia Vigliar at virginia.vigliar@gmail.com with an idea. We have one guest writer per month and pay $250 per article.
