Well one might wonder which is best of the two and to find that Media Analysis of the two apps has been done below.
The Concept
Its where the two app differ the most, both has a completely different concept. Let us see how -
Tinder : It is a location based platform and it shows all the profiles of other people who are present in that area (2 to 161 Kms).
Happn : It shows only the profiles the user cross path with (range of 250 meters) in the day to day life. It also tells for how many times an use has crossed paths with the other user.
Happn can be more trustworthy for the users as an user might have seen the other user in real while crossing the path. On the other side profiles on Tinder can also be fake because of no validation. But as Tinder shows all the profiles present in the range, it shows your more options than Happn.
Presentations of Profiles
Two apps again differ here in the way they show the profiles of other users.
Tinder : It shows the profiles in the form of a stack, one over other. The user doesn’t get to see all the profiles at a time, user will have to decide whether to like a shown profile or not and then only another profile will be shown.
Happn : Unlike Tinder Happn shows all the profiles at a time with which the path has been crossed and it shows them in the form of cards in a newsfeed way.
Users get enough time to decide whether to like a profile or not on Happn and also all the profiles can be visited any time which might be more helpful for users while on Tinder one can not visit a profile again after swipe except when it gets matched.
Sending a message
Tinder : The user can send message to a profile only after they both get match to each other after liking each other.
Happn : Here user can send a “Hi” to a profile without getting matched. There are limited free “Hi”s though, so one has to be selective about that.
Haapn again seems to have an edge over Tinder here as the users get to send a “Hi” without getting matched.
Signing Up
Tinder : Users can sign up for Tinder using just the phone number or through facebook.
Happn : One can’t sign up for Happn using just the phone number, an user must have a facebook account and it fetches details from the user’s facebook profile.
Users might not find signing up process very pleasant on Happn as having a facebook profile is must.
These were the factors which may decide which of the both dating apps attracts more users and how much pleasant experience they are going to have.
