PHOTOESSAY: Mountain View Rent Dilemma

Mountain View residents are facing ongoing rent problems because of price hikes and a lack of housing.

“There’s no way we can keep up with [rent] and find a decent place with our budget, it’s impossible,” says a resident.

Many tenants blame Google for their on going troubles and refer to it as a problem more than a blessing.

“They’re[google] the ones to blame, no matter what they claim to provide the city with, as they grow so do our rents and problems,” says one Mountain View resident.

Residents turn to other solutions to solve renting trouble.

Unfortunately, many are also moving out of town in seek of better housing.

Through this photo essay I hoped to put the Mountain View rent crisis into the perspective of the residents. If one takes a stroll through Mountain View, it is inevitable that you’ll run into at least one of the objects pictured. Giving viewers this perspective will stimulate a deeper feeling of understanding towards these hidden injustices many face.
