PHOTOESSAY: The Purple Penguins

Amber Liu, a sophomore attending LAHS, despite having already been in LAHS for a year, does not know the existence of the Key Club. “Key is to a successful life, and how you interact with people and maybe how to reach your goals?”

Secretary of Key Club, Adrienne Mitchel works on a project for the Key Club.

In the midst of Club day, Key Club members are cheering each other on to keep up the work at their booth. After a quick interview, Jia, the Key Club president in the penguin outfit explains, “The reason why it’s called the Key Club, is because the “Key” stands for Kiwanis Empowering Youth, and Kiwanis is a program that empowers youth by helping others in need.”

The shirt of Key Club includes their color theme, and mascot, Paco the Penguin. Key Club members enjoy wearing these to special events such as Club day.

During Club day, Key Club members welcome anyone that happens to be interested to their booth and explain about Key Club.
This is a project done for Photojournalism. It is for me to practice with photo essays and photojournalism in general. The post itself is about the Key club. The purpose of this is to give the readers/viewers a better understanding of Key Club and what they do. It is also to give a more comprehensive idea of what the Key Club represents, and what they work to accomplish and support.
