Every month’s New Moon is an opportunity to clear our space for healthy new influences to enter. It’s a monthly stopping-point to do an account of where we have been and consider where we wish to go. New Moons are full of opportunities for those who take advantage of personal reflection. Give yourself permission to connect authentically with yourself this month. A new cycle begins in Sagittarius which is about adjusting to major endings and new beginnings with open mindedness and adventure.

HEADS UP

Happy New Moon in Sagittarius! This Moon is a total solar eclipse where the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun and as a result, the Moon darkens the Sun. As the Moon blocks out the light of the Sun, the darkness of a solar eclipse asks us to examine our shadows. This is an extension to the shadow work that began with the last New Moon in Scorpio where we were called to befriend our shadowy side. Consider what shadows have come up for your review since last month and use the power of this eclipse portal to obtain new information, or new truth, about them. This total solar eclipse creates a strong call for us to connect in and listen to what our internal voice is saying. We may find the veil lifted, helping us to discern our desires and fears from the truth.

This eclipse energy may produce unstable or unexpected change, but if we stay open-minded and flexible, what at first seem like challenges, can actually be opportunities to rid ourselves of negative, restrictive, and limiting things in our lives. Why? Because we have entered the Age of Aquarius, and have chosen to come here, at this time, and rid our lineages of any toxic patterns we inherited from our ancestors. Why? To save humanity and our planet. We have great purpose in our presence here on Earth, today. It is our duty, as astrologer Divine Harmony puts it — “to be shaken from our well-established viewpoints that have been contaminated by biased points of view, and muster up the courage to expand our horizons and branch out into new ways of thinking.”

A Conjugal Eclipse, from Another World, 1844, JJ Grandville

Since May 2020, we have been working our way through a Sagittarius-Gemini eclipse cycle, but this cycle is now coming to an end and will wrap up with this New Moon. Reaching the endpoint in an eclipse cycle is a significant moment as it represents arriving at a new destination. On a collective level the world experienced a change in our way of living. We may now start to see a pattern in how we were being guided and where we stand among it all. This New Moon total solar eclipse in Sagittarius is the last step on this journey we have been on together, as we open to a new chapter for humanity. Much that was unclear can now easily come clear for us. It is important to allow surrender at this moment, to the unknown future, and know we will continue to be guided in this next leg of our collective journey.

The next eclipse season (7 eclipses for about two years) will be along the Taurus-Scorpio axis. Gemini and Sagittarius brought to light the meaning of our experiences and released old beliefs (Sagittarius) that no longer serve life and open up to new ideas and ways of thinking (Gemini). Whereas Taurus and Scorpio will battle for the power behind them, putting the choice back into our hands, but not without a fight with incumbents to keep it. This will require many of us to undergo a rebirth of sorts, a transformation now that we know what’s important to us, at the same time allowing us to really define our values around community and our relationship with Earth. As we move from one cycle to the next this New Moon, we are going to hit the ground running like a wild horse. Be ready for an adventure of a lifetime. Thankfully, we get to choose our adventure.

A quick word of wisdom from a wise teacher of mine, there is no Mother Earth, we are all Mother Earth. Take care of yourself and each other as we move into this new eclipse cycle.

With love and illumination,

Kat Lahr

HOW TO MAKE A NEW MOON LIST:

Gather paper and a pen, pencil, marker or other type of writing tool.

Review the focus areas for this month and begin to think about how they apply to your personal and professional life.

Write a list of what your hopes, dreams, goals, priorities, wishes, and prayers are for that moment. Typically no more than 10 is recommended. Be very specific, or extremely vague.

Review last month’s list and revise them on this month’s list, if necessary.

Place your notes somewhere safe and special to you. Some tape them to a window, under a lit candle, or leave them in their notebooks on their desks. Create the space that works for you. Leave it there all month until the next New Moon.

Allow and have faith in the power of inter-connectedness in our universe to manifest your list.
