Challenging stereotypes is what we’re about and the whole capitalist/startup world is steeped in them. So we knew we wanted to do pieces on people like Seth and his company Foundry, but finding the best way to tell the story of what B-Corps and Conscious Capitalism — pick your favorite buzzword — actually are was kind of tough. In the end, we went with a simple, direct approach, saying, ‘hey, here’s what some people are doing to try to make capitalism work a little more for everyone.’ With any luck, folks will want to know more and we’re excited to give it to them.

Hop the bump to check out the story. And for more of the good stuff follow us on Facebook & Instagram.

It may sound like an oxymoron at first, but Seth Levine doesn’t think it should. His company, Foundry Group, is the first venture capital firm to be certified a B Corp.

If you’re wondering what a B Corp is you’re not alone. It stands for Benefit Corporation and it’s actually kind of a big deal. To be certified, a company has to meet standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

That means Seth, and Foundry Group, are joining a new and growing generation of value-driven corporations. Companies caring about their communities, employees and their environment is good for #allofus.
