Chhotkei is a village inside Satsokia Tiger Reserve Odisha, India. It is not connected to the grid to protect wild animals. Instead, a ‘smart solar microgrid’, funded by the Finnish power company, Wartsila, has been given to the community here. The ‘smart solutions’ have been provided by Sunmoksha, a startup trying to address the challenges of rural electrification using IoT technology.
Corporate social responsibility funds are often used to finance one time expenses of innovative technologies and projects like this one.
