I started writing online January 2023.

I had no idea what I was doing. My early stuff was horrendous. But I kept going. I knew it would take a long time to grow. I’ve now written 400 articles alongside my 9–5.

I’m grateful for the small amount of success I’ve had. Somehow I’ve grown to 16,000 followers, have a thriving newsletter and make $2500/month. It’s been a wild ride. At times I thought I wouldn’t make it.

Here’s everything I’ve learned distilled in 5 key lessons.

1. Don’t let failure defeat you

Growing online is sooo hard.

You’ll face constant challenges. Times when things don’t work out:

  • products that flop
  • rejection from editors
  • algorithms screwing you over
  • negative comments from readers

This is tough. You’ll want to give up. You’ll be consumed by self-doubt and insecurity. Be assured this is normal.
