You can improve your content without changing a single word.

One of the biggest mistakes I see new writers make is a lack of visual appeal. You can write best-seller 10/10 quality content and have it flop. If your article doesn’t have visual appeal, no one’s going to read it.

Since member reading time is how you get paid on Medium, it’s essential to write articles that people read for more than 5 seconds.

Which one would you read?

I read a lot of articles online. Probably hundreds every week. I am much more likely to read an article that’s properly formatted.

Since they don’t teach you how to format online writing in school (at least, they didn’t when I went) here are five easy tips that will improve your articles visually.

1. Use short paragraphs

This is one of the biggest mistakes I see here on Medium and in social media captions.
