The Choir with Thousand of Supporters Will Never be the Pastime of Our Sport
Coliseums in the days of the Roman Empire were venues where gladiators fought and slashed their opponents on their way to fame. On the scene, music creates a disordered and wild outburst of citharas, lutes, cymbals, sistra, trumpets, and horns … .” That’s how writer Henryk Sienkiewicz puts the heat of coliseum in his classic novel “Quo Vadis.”
The coliseums of Rome had itself killed centuries ago, but the echoes of coliseums continue around the world. Yet there is at least one thing different. In the olden days, the coliseum had spectators, in the era of modern-day gladiator of the professional sportsmen, the go show spectators are sometimes outnumbered with organised supporters, some of which the fanatically organised.
choir of a crowd
In sports stadiums, the songs and cheers of modern sports are heard on the field of play. Wearing their team colours and jerseys, supporters dance ferociously as the shouts and sings moisten the air. They are sports fans, football fans, together they form a crowd of 60.000 people or more — all wearing the same colour and rhythmically shouting their team song.
Imagine you listen to the hymn song of Liverpool Fans: You’ll never walk alone sung by thousands of people.
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk-on
With hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone
You’ll never walk alone
Supporters are Additional Players in Thousands
Imagine you are one player, in the field play, beneath a choir of thousands of supporters. They motivate players to play better, ridicule opponents, and they want to be the real game-changers. Oh, how boring modern sports are without the presence of supporters. Football (or you may call it soccer) is nothing but 22 players chasing a leather ball. Supporters are the 12th to 1000th players on a football team. They add power to the game.
No wonder some clubs have special names for their supporters. European football lovers are acquainted with Milanisti for AC Milan Italy club supporter, or The Gooners for Arsenal club England.
They are The Ultras and GoTo Stadium
In generic terms, they are the Ultras, which are a type of association football fans who are renowned for their fanatical support.
The term originated in Italy but it is used worldwide to describe organised fans of association football teams.
It goes without saying, they must go to Stadium to be Ultras. Only if in an extraordinary situation like this pandemic, you are UFH- Ultras From Home, WFH-Watching From Home.
Let us go to the stadium again when the pandemic is over. Sing the song again and feel the hottest playful feeling of being human. Together in thousand!
