Christmas. It is an exciting time of year. Well, for most of us. Unfortunately, for some it comes with anxiety, loss, sadness, overwhelm, etc.

If there is one thing you can do this holiday season, it is to be kind to all.

Every day of the year you do not know what someone is going through. Christmas is no different. You may be stressed yourself trying to find that perfect gift for someone. Or franticly trying to organise everything for the big day. Or consumed by all the Christmas cooking and baking. But there are others who are grieving.

Let’s remember to be thoughtful and understanding of the people experiencing any of the following!

  • Missing a loved one
  • Not able to see family or friends over the holiday period
  • People who are incredibly anxious during these times
  • People who avoid their family because it is not good for their mental health
  • People who are doing it tough financially
  • People who are unwell
  • And, anyone else who finds this time of year to be a tricky one

This is the time to be thankful and helpful. Let’s spread some Christmas love by smiling at strangers. Being patient. Being genuinely grateful.

And, remembering Christmas is about family and friends. About the love. About the people around the tree. Not the presents under the tree.
