Find the one thing that sets your soul on fire
I believe deep down we all have a burning desire to contribute to the greater good and make this world a better place. Whether it’s fighting climate change, eradicating poverty, or championing gender & race equality, we all relate to something and wish to see change.
Finding out the one thing that you deeply resonate with will allow you to start taking action and create the mark you wish to leave on the planet. And to help you find it out, try to answer as honestly as possible to these questions:
- Which societal issues do you read about most often?
- Which injustices make you feel the most frustrated or compelled to act?
- What moments in your life deeply moved you?
Discovering the one or several issues that stir something in you will ignite the flame in your soul and give you motivation to take action and make a change. As Marc Twain would phrase it:
“The two most important days in your life are the day that you were born, and the day you find out why.” — Marc Twain
To give you some inspiration, the issues that are closest to my heart are:
- Inequalities in Opportunities: I think the social ladder is broken, meritocracy is dying, and consequently your quality of life is determined by your parents and your birthplace.
- Misery: Whether from a financial or emotional point of view, I believe every human being deserves the right to live a happy and meaningful life.
- Climate change: This one is important to me because it threatens the quality of life people have around the globe, especially in poor and developing countries.
