Fiverr Top Rated Seller Took Me to $3k — $6k Per Month!
How and Why you should get the Fiverr Top Rated Seller Badge.
If you want to earn $5k — $10k a month on Fiverr then you need to attain Top Rated Seller status.
It’s a goal that is coveted by many a Fiverr seller. However, it is achievable for anyone and should be your main goal as a Fiverr seller.
In this article I’ll take you through:
- What the Levels are and how to achieve them
- My stats before and after Top Rated Seller
- The benefits that come with being a Top Rated Seller
Ok, let’s dive into it!
The Fiverr Levels
The Fiverr levels are designed specifically to reward sellers for professionalism and dedication to the platform. Each level is slightly harder than the previous one, culminating in Top Rated Seller, where you have to be recommended by a member of the Fiverr team to be assessed and every recommended seller is assessed individually.
So the Fiverr levels and what you need to achieve to reach each one are as follows:
- New Seller — Every new seller begins with this level
- Level 1
- Level 2
- Top Rated Seller
So you can see that the last 5 points are consistent across all the levels. These points are directly showing you what Fiverr values most about its sellers.
The Key to gaining each level is focussing on maintaining as higher a rating as possible in those last 5 points — if you do this; the first 3 points will automatically be achieved due to the fact that the Fiverr algorithm will bump you up the search results and you will start receiving orders and, therefore, revenue.
So, let’s talk about how to achieve and maintain the critical last 5 points:
- Maintain a 4.7-star rating over 60 days
OK, so make sure that with every order you get, you go above and beyond to ensure the client is overjoyed with your service. If you can think of any ways to add extra value and provide something the client wasn’t expecting, do it! Anything you can do to make sure the client leaves a 5* review.
Also, make sure when you deliver an order you include in your message a “request” for a 5* review — it is against Fiverr’s terms and conditions to ask for a positive review so here is the section of my delivery message which gets around this problem:
“If you are happy with the VO’s, I would greatly appreciate it if you could leave me a review, as this really helps me grow my business”
So this doesn’t ask for a positive review directly — but it does ask for it indirectly by communicating that — if they are happy with the result they should leave a review — by default if they are happy they will likely leave a 5* review.
Don’t underestimate how many more clients will leave 5* reviews just by adding a line like this to your delivery message. Also, note that I provide a reason why they should leave me a positive review — “….as this really helps me grow my business”. This is a sales technique. Basically, if you provide a reason why somebody should do something they are far more likely to comply with your request!
2. Deliver a 90% response rate score over 60 days
This one is very easy. Respond to every message that comes into your inbox within 1 hour. You might think this is a very difficult task, especially if you have other commitments. However, remember that it does not say how long the message needs to be.
Therefore, it can be as simple as;
“Thank you so much for your message. I am really interested in your project. I am away from my desk at the moment but will come back to you asap”
To make things even easier here, Fiverr allows you to set up “quick responses”, whereby, you can pre-write the message and then simply select it and send it — it saves typing it out each time.
Also, make sure you download the app and turn the notifications on. Honestly, once you have this down it is extremely easy to maintain this metric!
3. Score a 90% completion order rate over 60 days
This one can be a little tricky because it is based on not getting too many cancelled orders. I say “too many” because invariably there will be cancellations for reasons you can’t control.
However, for the most part, you should do everything within your control to make sure that buyers don’t cancel orders.
Make sure you have a detailed description of your service and what is included. Many cancellations happen because this basic part is not clear.
I recommend staying away from asking buyers to message you first before placing an order in your gig description because I think this sounds a little shady and salesy. If your description is clear and concise, why should buyers message you first!?
However, you can put something in your gig description like:
“If you have any questions or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me so we can discuss your project”
This is basically asking the same thing but sounds much more professional and genuine.
4. Achieve a 90% on-time delivery score over 60 days
Very simple;
Don’t deliver orders late!
No excuse here! Be realistic with your delivery times — being competitive with your delivery times is good but not at the expense of finding yourself delivering late.
Having the app downloaded will help with this as well as it will send reminders when you have 24 hours left to deliver an order.
5. Receive no warnings over 30 days
Quite simply;
Read the terms and conditions and stick to them!
Especially when you are a new seller. I take a few more risks now I am a top-rated seller but am still wary that a lot of my monthly revenue comes from Fiverr. To me; gaining a little extra revenue is not worth the amount of monthly revenue I may lose getting kicked off the platform.
As a new seller, Fiverr will have no problem banning your account if you break the terms and conditions. Don’t Do it!
Top Rated Seller
So I just want to take you through what I had to improve to reach Top Rated Seller status once I had achieved the criteria.
Level 1 and Level 2 are automatically given to sellers when they achieved all the criteria.
However, Top rated Seller is slightly different. Once you reach the criteria you have to be recommended by a member of the Fiverr team and you are then assessed by a separate member of the team.
Getting Recommended
From reaching the criteria to actually being awarded Top Rated Seller was around 6 months for me. During that time I joined Seller Plus and I highly recommend you do this.
Seller plus, at the time of writing, is $29 per month which is taken from your Fiverr balance. There are some fantastic benefits to having this, including:
I really only recommend joining the program once you are a level 2 seller and are earning a good regular monthly income from Fiverr. That is when the benefits of the program really proved most useful to me and it was worth the $29.
The best thing, however, was the personal success manager. She was instrumental in directing me with what to improve so that I could pass the assessment for Top Rated Seller
I was never directly told this; but I am sure that when I had completed all of my personal success manager’s recommendations she recommended me to be individually assessed and that alone was worth the $29.
So what did she recommend?
- Improve the layout and conciseness of my gig descriptions.
The focus was on using bullet points to make it extremely clear to clients what I was offering.
2. Add in more FAQ’s to each gig
The focus here was to cover a lot more in covering questions that clients may have and make the answers very easy to find.
3. Remove gigs that offer duplicate services
This was an interesting one. It seems that Fiverr doesn’t want you to have multiple gigs which offer a similar service. So, I paused some and reconstituted others so I could still benefit from the feedback already received on them.
4. Raise my prices!
This is one I struggled with because it takes quite a lot of confidence to raise your prices. However, my personal success manager pointed out to me that the Top Rated Seller’s base prices are normally higher than other levels.
Fiverr is trying to move away from the image of offering cheap and quick services and that is why they encourage Top Rated Sellers to have higher base prices.
Also, you will notice that the majority of sellers on the first page of niches have higher base prices.
So after changing these parts, I received my Top Rated Seller status the next month! I received the badge in June and you can see how much my average monthly revenue increased from then:
Since receiving the badge I am shown consistently higher in search rankings, I have had a lot more business clients ordering my services and I have also received some Fiverr’s Choice orders.
Fiverr’s choice is when Fiverr promotes your gig in their Fiverr’s Choice section and it is gigs that are known for excellent quality service and very quick turnaround times.
All of this has contributed to my receiving more orders and an increase in revenue per order which has led to a large increase in monthly revenue!
If you are serious about building a business on Fiverr then achieving Top Rated Seller is a must and I hope this article will help you to do just that.
