Most writers dream of publishing their work as soon as they begin writing it.

As a poet, you may have noticed that there are few avenues to traditionally publish your poems, whether individually or as a collection. It may seem like a competitive world out there for poets (and writers in general), but there ARE ways to get your poems in print and online with just a little effort and organization. You don’t even have to pay submission fees or hire an editor to make your poetry publishing dream a reality.

There are a ton of new presses that don’t gatekeep and are open to all kinds of work and skill levels, as long as your work resonates with them. But even if you like the prestige of publishing in long-standing publications, these tips apply.

So what do you need to do? Grab a poem of yours that you love, open a Google Sheet, and take a look at the resources and tips I’m about to give you.
