“What? How has the keto diet got to do anything with becoming a blogger?” That’s exactly what you’re thinking right? Let me explain.

I was never on the lighter side of the masses. Even when I was born, I was a whopping 9 pounds! Junk food, binge eating, and boredom eating were my best friends.

Fast forward to the third year of my bachelor’s degree, something stirred in me. Mind you, it’s not like I didn’t get the bullying and lecturing that comes with being overweight; I just never cared.

When I first began my weight loss journey, I was OVERWHELMED! I mean, there are so many diets out there, how am I supposed to just choose one?

But I had heard about the ketogenic diet from quite a few people and that sounded attractive to me. So that’s what I decided to do.

I got on the internet and searched what every newbie would search for — what is the keto diet? And again, I was hit by that overwhelming feeling. Dirty keto, clean keto, carb refeed; there was so much going on.

I spent almost a month just trying to figure out which keto I’m going to do. I was researching all day, making notes, watching recipes, procrastinating, almost giving up, actually giving up and starting again!

I even had a nightmare about being in a pool of fat! Ok, that was an exaggeration, I admit. But seriously, I was in a never-ending labyrinth of information.

But you’ve probably had enough of the rant, right? Woah, slow down. I almost practically heard that “duh”. Alright then, here you go.

But first, have you tried the keto diet? I would love to hear about your experience!

It made me resume my reading habit

After a year of not touching a single book, starting the keto diet forced me to read a lot of articles, blogs, research papers, and success (and failure) stories.

It made me absorb a whirlpool of information that I wasn’t even ready for! But surprisingly, I seemed to be enjoying it (the research only. The fact that I still didn’t know which keto to do was frustrating, to say the least).

And guess what? I started reading “leave me” by Gayle Forman during this research. The keto diet brought back my reading habit!

It helped me explore the world of blogging

Before all of this research, I didn’t know blogging could help you earn money! I thought writers only made a few cents.

One day, I was looking for a dirty keto recipe and saw a video suggestion. It said: “How I make $$$$ by blogging!” Something along those lines.

By this point, I had decided that choosing to do the clean keto and throwing up everything (read: cauliflower) I ate would take me right back to square freaking one.

So I immediately clicked on that video and discovered the magical realm of blogging. I was instantly hooked and decided to give it a shot.

It gave me acne

I know what you’re thinking but hear me out.

The acne on my face made me turn to the internet again. I put my car on the road of research. I discovered people who were earning 6-figures monthly just by writing about skincare, makeup and fashion!

My excitement was out of the roof.

I dived further into the world of words and my interest in writing was escalated to the seventh sky (metaphorically).

The heading has started to make sense now, hasn’t it?

All of the reasons that made me conduct some type of research made me creative. They made me polish my love for writing and also saved my skin!

In case you’re wondering what happened to my keto journey, I left it after it started messing with my hormones. But I am still a keto fan because it got me a job I love!

P.S. For all the keto advocates out there, I’m not saying keto is bad, I enjoyed it a lot — it just didn’t suit my body. I mean it did help me lose 13 kg but the side effects I was facing put me off.
