It’s easy to be disappointed on Medium.

Each time you publish a story and you see its views and earnings peak for a day or two before they fall off a cliff.

Each time you read a story that’s earned over 1,000 claps and you’re left wondering why their story and not yours.

Each time you open the app to find your notification bell has been silent.

Each time you check your stats to see what earnings have come in overnight when you haven’t published anything new.

You can’t help comparing yourself with others. You feel inadequate and embarrassed. You ignore the fact that the people you’re comparing yourself to have a way larger following than you because they’ve been on the platform way longer than you.

You get tied down to an unhealthy mindset and obligation to use every bit of spare time you have to try more and do more in an attempt to feel good enough or successful. Your desire to keep writing starts hanging by a thread because you wonder what it’s all for.

Stop.

When you’re starting to doubt whether Medium is worth your time, start looking…
