I published my first story on Medium on 31st July 2022. It was about if γ-rays can turn you into the Hulk. I enjoyed writing it.

I have not even completed four months on this platform, and here I am writing my 25th story. I have more than 90 wonderful followers now.

I cannot earn from my stories because the medium partner program is unavailable in India.

Today I am pondering how I started writing and how my habit of writing evolved. I had been writing on Quora before I started writing on Medium. But I was never consistent on Quora.

Ever since I got on Medium, I have been writing consistently.

I like writing😇

I have found that I like writing, especially on Medium. Writing on this platform feels good. I like watching my story evolve word by word.

Putting my thoughts out now and then relieves me. It gives me relief, similar to talking to a good old friend.

In this case, that good old friend is me.

I talk to myself and write down the conversation.

To flex my writing muscle ✍️

Good writing skills are expected of me. I am a PhD student, and I need to write technical reports, drafts of research articles, abstracts, proposals etc. I will soon start writing my thesis.

My writing is expected to be at par with the standards. If I don't write correctly, my supervisor will not work on the draft, and everything will be delayed.

So I should practice my writing and keep it sharp.

Writing articles is a good way to keep writing skills sharp.

For a sense of Accomplishment😁

Yes.

Suppose you wanted to complete some assignments on the weekend. But, on Saturday, you went out with your friends instead. Now it's Sunday afternoon, and you have not started with the assignments. But the deadline is not on Monday, so deep down, you know you are not in trouble. However, you feel guilty as you have not done anything.

I write an article and publish it.

It gives me a sense of accomplishment.

PS. I am writing this article on Sunday afternoon.

To spread awareness about nuclear physics

What would be better than writing for fun and spreading awareness about your research field?

I write easy-to-understand articles to spread awareness about nuclear physics.

This activity combines two of my favourite things. First is writing, and second is nuclear physics.

I am slowly building an online collection of interesting questions related to nuclear physics.

It keeps me going🚶🏻‍♂️

PhD is a long journey. There is no reward mechanism in place. You may be working on something whose result you will get years later.

So it would help if you treated yourself for the hard work.

I publish an article to achieve something tangible in a day. It gives me a sense of achievement, and it keeps me going.

That's all, folks.

Happy reading. Bye.👋
