Instagram is one of the biggest social media platforms out there with a whopping MAU of 1.2 billion users, which include businessmen, celebrities, politicians, athletes, your mom, your dad, your crush, and anyone else you can think of, and today I am going to share the experience of my first week on it.

After reading the title, you must have imagined a 50-year-old dude lecturing “today’s generation” on the harms of using Instagram and how it is destroying their life, but the writer of this article, which is me, is actually 17.

I know there must be a lot of questions in your mind, like, “Where do you post your selfies?” and “How do you keep up with the memes and the trends?” and the most often asked and most logical of all, “HOW DO YOU CONNECT WITH PEOPLE?”

I was fed up with people constantly asking me questions like these. I was fed up with people treating me as a weirdo. I was fed up with people constantly judging me and treating me as if I were not from this planet for not having an INSTAGRAM, and not posting selfies online. That’s when I decided that I was going to open an Instagram account.

FLAGS OFF

After making up my mind, I created a new email specifically for this task and registered myself. While creating my profile, I was also fantasizing about having many followers and then flaunting them in front of my friends, but that didn’t stick for long.
The first thing that every normal human being would do after entering Instagram would be to follow his friends. Guess what I did?

That’s right, I followed my crush. She was the first member of the “following” list on my profile. Surprisingly, she followed me back, although she didn’t reply to my DM but we won’t talk about that. After this, I slowly started following all my friends. For some reason, they didn’t believe that it was actually me and said that it was a fake Id and someone was pranking them. After everything settled down and I won their trust, everyone was quite surprised and, to my shock, happy.

THE FIRST POST.

After becoming an official member of the Gram it was time for my first post. I was quite excited about it and decided that my debut should be grand and that is what happened. See, In high school, I was into music production and took it as a hobby, and by combining that skill with broken cinematography and editing, I was able to create a music video. It actually got quite popular in my school and is the most viewed video and the only video on my profile with 180 views. That’s a lot for the first post. Even my crush commented on it.

FINAL THOUGHTS

After the week was over I was addicted and still am to this day. Although I don’t post very often, I do “heart” everyone’s stories twice a day. I am also becoming more and more familiar with the GenZ lingo which I should know. Answering the questions, Yes I have a place to post my selfies and I am up-to-date with the latest memes, and I am more connected to people in some way, but one flaw that I would like to mention is that Instagram does compel you to compare your life with others which can be distressing at times. My advice:- “don’t get too attached to it. “

You Take Care

Bye.
