Never-Ending Task List, a New Concept To Increase Productivity
Give it a try
Making a task list and failing to complete it is something we all experience at one time or another. No matter how hard we try there’s always something which we fail to complete. Not completing the piece of work we’ve assigned to ourselves tends to leave us feeling inadequate and unsatisfactory about our abilities.
In the long run, you are going to build low self-esteem in terms of productivity and you’ll lack motivation to do things if you fail to complete the assigned chore. It’s true that prioritizing things and committing to them will help but what about pushing limits? When we make a task list we usually try to push our limitations and add challenging things.
If we make a practical task list that involves things we can easily do, we’ll stay within our limits and if we make an unreasonable list of work that is impossible to complete we’ll end up feeling dissatisfied. We need to address both of these issues to increase our productivity in the long run.
One possible solution to this is a never-ending task list, in this type of task list, instead of assigning things daily, you keep adding things and keep glancing to remind yourself of the incomplete works. By doing so you’ll not miss anything as you can see the unaddressed task which you’ve added before. Instead of making a list on a piece of paper, you’re going to make a whole notebook to write a task in a listicle manner.
It has the following benefits:
- It helps you to remember the incomplete assignment better as you tend to throw away the daily task list and forget what you’ve written.
- Your work is constantly on, you don’t take a rest when things are done, instead, you only take a break when you feel overwhelmed and exhausted and continue your work when you get revived.
- You won't forget your routine tasks, as you can keep those items with a done sign with you on your list.
- You get a lot of motivation when you see all your previous “done marks”, it’ll keep fueling you up when you notice that you’ve completed a lot of things before.
- You can track your productivity when you go through the record of the previous month and can make a chart to address how efficient you were.
I know it sounds ridiculous but believe me, it’s far more effective than it appears. In day-to-day life having a regular task list is enough, but if you get bombarded with a huge amount of work or you are a member of hustle culture, then you can notice how significant this method is.
