Newbie Writer, 2 Quick Changes You Can Make To Improve Your Writing Instantly
Especially if nobody reads what you write.
I started writing in 2019.
As a newbie to the craft, I learned by trial and error. I had to figure things out personally. My writing style at the time was overly descriptive.
After only a few articles, I came to terms with the bitter truth that nobody was listening to me. I was writing into a void.
Here are 2 quick changes I made that you can also make to improve your writing instantly:
1. Optimize your writing for speed.
If you want to write pieces that people care to read as an online writer, then you should work on improving your rate of revelation.
In journalism, the rate of revelation is the speed at which readers get new information.
Writing is not the hard part; writing pieces people care to read is.
The internet favors fast-paced straight-to-the-point kind of writing. No one is obligated to read what you write.
Therefore, write with the consciousness that your readers do not owe you a second of their precious time. You must treasure every second of their time you get.
2. Write to please nobody.
Your writing is not about you. Stop trying to impress anyone.
When a reader clicks on your article, they want something. Among the thousands of options they are presented with, yours resonates the most with them, and they open it hoping you will make good on your promise.
Always make sure you deliver.
Write to give value and solve a problem.
Write with your reader in mind by asking yourself, how does this benefit my readers?
Final thoughts.
Writing has no quick fixes and magical hacks that can deliver overnight success. You have to get in the ring every day and do the work.
The more you work, the better you become.
Keep writing champ!
