With increasing stress and lifestyle issues, the number of people having erectile dysfunction is on the rise. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common medical condition that affects more than 100 million men worldwide. It is estimated that nearly one-third of males over 40 years have some degree of ED. With the increasing longevity of humans more and more people face issues with sexual health.

What is P-shot ( also known as Priapus-Shot)?

During P Shot, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is taken from a person's body and is injected into the penis. So basically your doctor takes cells from your body and inject them into your penis that might help you in the growth of penile tissue and you might get better erections.

What is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrated form of fluid that is taken from your body and is rich in platelet ( small fragments of the large cell which helps in clotting on blood ).

What evidence do we have to support this therapy?

A review published by Susan Scott and group in 2019 found no overall benefit of the use of PRP. They concluded that even though many clinics around the globe are using PRP in the management of male sexual dysfunction, we still have no data on its efficacy and safety with the potential of side effects.

A similar conclusion was drawn by Sarah C Krzastek and the group too.

Krzastek SC, Bopp J, Smith RP, Kovac JR. Recent advances in the understanding and management of erectile dysfunction. F1000Res. 2019;8:F1000 Faculty Rev-102. Published 2019 Jan 25. doi:10.12688/f1000research.16576.1

What should we do?

Till we have larger evidence with proper studies, this therapy should be considered experimental and should be used with caution.

My Advice :

Stick to an established form of therapy and take P-Shot only if you are taking part in a larger Radamoised controlled study.

Just because people promote it as magical therapy with no side effects (??? ) does not mean that it will create magic with no complications.
