Ahh, plagiarism. Mortal enemy of every writer regardless of their experience or expertise. It’s often regarded as a “silent thief of intellectual property” It’s a disrespectful tragedy in academics, schools, universities, among professionals, and creative spheres. For writers, it’s like selling your soul to the devil. Moral and ethical betrayal, and a breach of trust. undermining and stealing very original thoughts or innovation.

To understand why plagiarism is so hated we should first understand what it means and what it involves. Plagiarism by its core, involves unauthorized use or replication (copying) of someone else’s work without any reference or acknowledgment of the original paper. Plagiarism can be considered from copying a whole scholarly article to just copying a single paragraph without a reference. Presenting someone’s idea as yours, lying to the reader, and robbing someone of their hard work.

After understanding why plagiarism is so hated and whats it’s definition I believe, we should talk about the consequences of plagiarism. In academic settings like university or school, you will simply get an “F” and a warning, after three warnings you will be kicked off from university, and in school, you will get in big trouble, as plagiarism undermines the integrity of the educational system and devalues hardworking students efforts. However, in the real world where adults aren’t afraid of grades, plagiarism can lead to legal repercussions, damage to careers, lawsuits, or jail time.

Moreover, plagiarism not only affects individuals and undermines their work but it also affects society at large scales. When original ideas get stolen without proper credit and people see that there weren’t any proper consequences for stealing, they will get extremely wrong ideas that will surely bring chaos to society.

To fight this tragedy education awareness is crucial. Kids from a young age should understand that plagiarism is extremely wrong and unfair. Schools and other educational institutions should make sure to spread awareness among kids and students and only then we will be free of plagiarism.

To sum everything up, every culture respects intellectual property condemns plagiarism, and sees it as an unethical disrespectful tragedy. By upholding honesty transparency and originality we can preserve the creative academic and professional writings and works of wonder.
