Social media is a cavern.

The reality is not as it appears.

In the cave of Plato, prisoners were bound to see only one direction, and here is what happened: they were convinced by the fake reality.

We wake up daily, and right after we open our eyes, we scroll through Instagram, and maybe Facebook — I mean, who uses Facebook nowadays anyways. The first thing we do is go through some stuff that can arouse mental turmoil. Let’s say you have an impeccable candid picture or something you don’t have; we fantasize and idealize while being ungrateful for what we have.

See, that’s the problematic part: What we see on social media is not the ultimate reality. It’s the shadow of the puppet show. The prisoners in the cave had a hazy view of reality. People have the ability to manipulate what is real and what is not, as well as what is meant to be shown, i.e., scripted.

They say there is a thin line between imagination and reality, but indeed, there is a thin line between reality and deceptive reality. It's like an onion that can make you cry and have multiple layers to be aware of.

Now it shouldn’t spell out that everything is fake and polluted, but what is needed is a very sharp inner eye to figure out that blurred line. It’s for you and me to live a blissful life, excluding the trifling tensions of life, because I believe that social media is toxic at times and has a very unharmonious effect.

Do not fight with your thoughts. Give it the solace it quests for by refusing to believe what is out there. Be you.
