What is happiness?

When do you feel happy?

What makes you happy?

About 99% of the people function as per the answers to the above questions.

The definition of happiness might be different from person to person. Some of us think money is the condensed meaning of happiness.

But as a developed human being, somewhere in the corner of your heart. You might feel money is not the sole thing that makes us happy.

Then what would be the rigid answer?

Is it a career, recognition, or playtime?

Let’s sort it. I Am a 26-year-old fellow with sufficient experience for my age. Let’s aggregate how my answers for happiness went through my age.

Now, stop reading this and answer the question: When were you happy for the last time?

— — — Hold your Answer — — —

My story

At the age of 3,
At this age, I started going to school. At that point, skipping school, staying with my mother all the time, and eating my food, avoiding sickness would answer my questions about happiness.

At the age of 8,
I felt happy if my mom allowed me to play for some extra hours with my friends or allowing me to watch my cartoons would be the happiness.

At the age of 13,
At my high school, we started comparing ourselves and analyzing the differences. We compare our financial status, family relations, educational performance, physical health, and many other things and feel happy and sad based on them.

At the age of 18,
Our hormones are at their peak, and the levels of feeling like depression, happiness, love, lust, anything will be high with low or no maturity.

Analyzing and finding solutions to the previous age problems might bring you happiness, like choosing a career, planning your life, etc.

At the age of 23:
We are in the building phase of our happiness. It might be doing a job building a business, establishing a gym routine, or planning higher education abroad.

Age of 26 and 28:
We will be at a high level of maturity but low with the required experience. We start expecting some growth in our field and feel happy if we achieve it or feel unhappy if not.

Now, let’s analyze the pattern a bit deeper.

At 8, I only expected to spend more time with my friends, which would be my ultimate happiness. However, at age 18, even though I had that luxury, I was unhappy with some other desires.

At 23, moving abroad and having my Master’s was the ultimate happiness, and I was so happy to achieve that.

But wait, is that happiness with me at present? If not, is it false happiness?

Likewise:

One age’s ultimate happiness could be the least happiness material for the next stage.

Then, again with our question. What is happiness, and what makes us happy?

Let’s explore some hidden patterns:

We are happy to gain something that we don’t have. This gain will become our base, and we will become unhappy for not getting something we wish for.

Then, should we stop expecting more to be happy?

— — — — NO — — — —

Instead, be happy for the progress you are making toward that goal. Even though achieving admission to a good college for your Master’s or achieving some business goals or higher designation might not give you the same level of happiness in the future point. But, remembering the genuine efforts you put in and the process you followed would bring happiness at any point of your life with the same magnitude.

Now recall your answer to the question: when were you happy for the last time?

If your answer was something that happened more than 24 hours ago, that means you are not leading a real happy life.

You might answer the question by thinking about a significant purchase, a promotion, etc., which happened long ago.

But it would help if you were happy for something you did today for a better tomorrow.

Focus Points for Happiness:

Reason for your happiness:

If you’re searching for someone who will make you happy, Look in the mirror. You will be the only person who makes you happy.

So have total control over yourself and focus on things which you like.

Start embracing little progress:

The above maths shows you the importance of 1% growth. If you embrace the significance of that 1% and feel happy about that small progress, it eventually yields 37.8 as value.

If you ignore that 1% and do not feel happy about your 1% growth and acceptance to let go of that interest, there might be a 1% decline, and it will yield 0.0255 to your base.

So, start enjoying the small progress.

Health:

As all of us know.

Health is wealth.

And having proper health multiplies the happiness and reduces the sadness you have. If your health is terrible, it will then multiply the sadness & reduce the joy you have.

Maintaining mental and physical health is relevant to enjoying your life to the fullest.

Relationships:

Relationships are the things which the present-day world should be focusing more on. Having someone with you to share your thoughts and feelings relieves you from stress and makes you a better person, and having good relations builds your network and promotes you in all possible ways.

Be productive, Be happy.
