Your health could be on the verge of losing its balance emotionally, physically, and mentally when you let go of sleep; prefer to sit on your couch and watch those numerous episodes of that midnight movie series from start to finish. Hey, don’t laugh now! It’s serious.

Did you know that adults require 7 to 9 hours of night sleep daily? However, teens and young children with babies need longer hours of daily night sleep. It has been scientifically proven by the “Sleep Foundation (A OneCare Media Company)”.

You’ve probably heard the words “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise by Benjamin Franklin.” The reverse of these words becomes the reality when you choose to let go of your night’s sleep because of exposure to screen time.

You end up sacrificing your sleep quality for that late-night movie. In the morning, you will become too exhausted to carry on with your daily tasks and activities.

Hormonal Balance is Affected

Scientifically, the hormone which regulates sleep is Melatonin. Ideally, this hormone sends sleep signals for your body system to relax after the day’s activities. But when you let go of sleep, you send negative feedback to your brain that you prefer to stay awake to watch that action-stimulating movie series.

Sadly, the time for sleep for that night is lost. That time is gone and gone forever!

Exposure to Emotional Risks

The National Library of Medicine confirms that sleep debt relates to feelings such as anger, anxiety, depression, and other emotions that can affect the mood of an individual.

Just imagine for a second the consequences of having these risks in action. It’s not a good feeling.

Mental Risks Are Not Left Out

You may have heard of the words “Preserve Your Mental Health”. You go against these words when you choose to stay awake at night to be exposed to screen time rather than falling asleep and get refreshed in the morning.

Sooner or later, the effects of this course of action would become glaring. Some of the mental issues include (but are not limited to) :

Other Health issues can occur.

Research shows that disorders such as heart disease, high blood pressure, and other health issues can occur because of sleep deprivation.

Final Thoughts

Watching that movie series could be your favorite way of relaxing after a tiring day. But considering the risks should be a guide for you to make the right decision in maintaining a good sleep routine as it relates to your health.

It’s okay if you want to watch your movie show much earlier in the evening. It’s much better than staying up at night watching that favorite movie series. Remember that your sleep quality shouldn’t be sacrificed in the process also your health.

So, the next time you want to stay awake at night watching that stimulating movie show, consider your health a top priority and make the right decision.
