This place has already so much to offer that it becomes difficult for travelers to make a decision on what to do and what not. Here is the list of the most interesting and weirdest things to enjoy if you are planning to visit Maldives.

Mud Bathing In Fuvahmulah

You must have played with mud at some point during your childhood. Even though, most parents do not allow their children to take part in such activities, however, as adults, there are healthier options, such as mud treatment and facials.

These treatments help in relieving body aches and muscle tension, aid in exfoliation and for improving circulation of blood. Today, both foreigners and locals have been drawn to a natural muddy pool, known as Kodakilhi, located near the fresh water lake, Bandaara Kilhi in the third largest island in the country, Fuvahmulah.

Getting Vajidhu

The last stage and element of Boduberu drumming is Vajidhu that leads to Baburu dance. In Maldives, this type of dance has been recorded much earlier than the 11th century. Usually, Vajidhu starts with drumming and it is performed by a group of about 15 people, including a lead vocalist and three drummers.

The songs emphasize on dancing and drumming and start with slow drum beats. Once the music gets faster and louder, the dancers keep on upholding their frantic beats in sync with the wild moves, whereas their physical gestures and facial expressions change drastically leading to a trance. Even though, you will see that Boduberu performance is very common across the country, however, there are just a few Boduberu groups that can also perform the Baburu dance.

Wreck Snorkeling Near Keyodhoo

To experience good diving and snorkeling, one doesn’t necessarily have to join a boat excursion in Maldives. Just one km away from the island of Keyodhoo, this attractive wreck in Vaavu atoll, is surrounded by dramatic undersea landscapes and pristine coral reefs is a heaven for those who are underwater enthusiasts.

Droning Over Laamu Atoll Link Road

Nowadays, there is a new trend of Drone Photography that has rapidly transformed into one of the most charming methods for documenting the Earth from above. Since Maldives is a perfect destination with around 120 resort islands serving those travelers who are exclusively looking for luxurious sojourns all around the world. However, not all of the resorts permit their guests to capture their blissful moments through drone photography.

There are a number of resort islands that do not allow mechanical flying devices, such as operating drones inside or over their property. Therefore, before you confirm your reservation for traveling Maldives on holidays, it is recommended to check the drone policies of the resort island.

For drone photography and for capturing some of the most scenic sights of the Maldives as your backdrop, you can go for Laamu atoll. This is because drone photography will certainly not disappoint you here as there is an asphalt road of 15 km in Laamu atoll in Maldives that connects the four islands of Fonadhoo, Kahdhoo, Maandhoo and Gan, offering breathtaking sights of the Indian Ocean.

Spend Your Night On A Holhuashi By The Beach

Maldives is serene, idyllic and picturesque to explore during the day time. However, when the stars start to glitter and moon shines bright and the sun goes down, the picturesque beauty takes on a whole different level, giving you a fulfilling and unique “island nightlife” experience.

There are several inhabited local islands of the country that feature a Holhuashi. This is a gazebo that is built by using hollow wooden trunks that is further roped to make a bench-like seat. Usually, they are set up along with the beach, where the boats dock. This is an amazing place for islanders as they can socialize here after a day’s work, listening to the local radio programs and playing cultural and traditional games. There is no other way to enjoy night sights and sounds than by sleeping in a Holhuashi. This is because, in this way, you can experience a night full of star-gazing while enjoying the gentle sound of waves washing ashore.
