You’ll hate your early work (and that’s the point)

Two years ago, I discovered a folder of articles I wrote during my first six months as a professional writer. Reading them felt like watching myself stumble through a conversation in a language I barely spoke.

  • The sentences were clunky.
  • The logic jumped around.
  • The voice was trying so hard to sound “writerly” that it lost any trace of personality.
