What You Must Do To Thrive in 2022
Make the most of this year…
“You have so much potential.”
I am sure you have read that before.
While most people who say that, say it in the hope that it would serve as some magic motivation pill; I have realized over time that it executes the exact opposite in the minds of most readers oftentimes than not.
We live in an age where distraction lurks at every turn. Many are prisoners of their potentials, confused, disturbed, frustrated, and overwhelmed. Too many instructions, but very little guidance. Distressed by unguided zeal, imprisoned by unexpressed potentials — we dabble and drift. Frustrated we forfeit the gusto of our greatness. But it’s our responsibility to know ourselves.
If we would thrive in 2022 we must first know ourselves.
You must know yourself to grow yourself — John Maxwell
The first step in growing yourself is knowing who you are. This is called the Law of Awareness.
I have observed that there are generally four kinds of people when it comes to understanding and expressing potential. They are the:
1. “I Know My Potential, But I Don’t Know How to Express It”
Those in this category are aware that they possess so much potential — they know they can do so much more and can offer much more than people give them credit for. Yet, their inability to live out the optimistic claims they have of themselves and their supposed potential haunts them.
The result? Disappointment and frustration.
2. “I Know My Potential, But I Don’t Know Where to Express It”
Those in this category are aware of their potential but, their awareness is mixed with a strong desire to find expression, which is further mixed with an inability to correctly discern the ideal platform for the optimum expression of their potential. This results in increased activity without commensurate results, and frustration.
3. “I Believe I Have Potential — I’m Not Sure What It Is, But I Want to Do Something with It”
Those in this category lack a sense of self-awareness concerning their areas of strengths and passion, mixed with a strong desire to release perceived potential. This results in fleeting commitment and unfocused growth.
4. Class of The Fulfilled
Those in this category are aware of their potential, know-how, and where to express it. And, they commit every day to grow in the areas of their strengths and passion. The word that best describes them is fulfilled.
What category do you fall under?
We must know ourselves. We must be aware of where we are before we can chart the course for where we want to go. As the 28th US president, Woodrow Wilson proclaimed,
We live in an age disturbed, confused, bewildered, afraid of its own forces, in search not merely of its road but even of its direction. There are many voices of counsel, but few voices of vision; there is much excitement and feverish activity, but little concert of thoughtful purpose. We are distressed by our own ungoverned, undirected energies and do many things, but nothing long. It is our duty to find ourselves.
In 2022, you cannot afford to not know who you are.
You cannot continue defying the Law of Awareness.
The secret to knowing who you are is to LIVE — Listen Intently to the Voice of your Essence.
Thereafter stay committed to Living In the Vitality of that Essence.
Cheers to a fabulous 2022!
