Introspection is the key to inner peace. Photos by the Author

Is it possible to discover oneself whilst being lost? This can be a question that you can ask yourself the next time you are lost in the woods searching for a signal :)

I did it in a somewhat similar situation, miles away from a civilization I was on my bike, out there trying to conquer the unknown. I was using my phone for directions and suddenly I realized it was out of signal. I got off my bike and realized I was in the middle of nowhere.

A sudden fear gripped me; what If my bike broke down? What if I run out of gas? The important one is where will this road lead me without any navigation.

I was standing there and all these questions made me want to regret my decision to travel to this place alone. I took my helmet off and stared at the infinity. No civilization in sight just these mountains and animal trails. A cool wind was blowing which gave me some respite from this scorching heat.

As I continued to stare in all directions I had a moment of self-introspection, I realized despite all the hurdles, I am here in this moment all alone, which shows my resilience and If I can make it till here I can go further ahead. I started reminiscing all the life decisions that I had made that brought me here, in this place where it’s just me and my bike. It gave me the confidence to conquer my fears and reflect the same in other aspects of life too. Be it making financial decisions, work, friends, or family. The feeling of conquering is the one you should chase for. Conquer anything, even if it’s minimal it will open the doors for others and give you the motivation that you seek in life.

Suddenly that arid land turned into the land of opportunities. I got a sudden surge of energy and started looking for positives. I sat there on a rock(which was probably millions of years old) and started making my plan on how to get out of this place. I made a map in my mind analyzing the landscape and with renewed energy, I fired my bike and drove 10 miles on the animal trails, carefully.

While I was driving, I realized the animal trails led me to a man-made road and suddenly I was driving alongside a dam. I could see windmills and a reservoir(the reason for the cool winds earlier). After driving for another 10 miles that landscape turned green and at last, I had reached a civilization.

I was grateful to God (for guiding me) and my bike (for not breaking down).

I had conquered my fears and this was only possible because I traveled solo.

Traveling solo is an activity one should do at least once. And I promise you it will make you a better and more confident person, who’s ready to conquer anything.

That was the end, if you liked my story and were able to connect do consider following me :) that will motivate me to share more experiences.
