Do your gums bleed while brushing or flossing your teeth?
Bleeding gums may occur due to many reasons ranging from wrong brushing techniques to a more serious condition. Bleeding gums itself is not dangerous, but the underlying condition causing this may be.

Here are some major causes of bleeding gums:

1) Brushing too Hard

  • Tooth brushing vigorously can cause gum recession and bleeding gums.
  • Use of a soft-bristled toothbrush with a correct brushing technique is recommended.

2) No use of Floss

  • Flossing removes plaque and bacteria from between the teeth, which a toothbrush is unable to reach. But when you skip flossing, bacteria gets buildup between the teeth, which causes inflamed gums, which leads to bleeding gums.
