Why Saying ‘Thank You’ Matters More Than Ever Online
Kindness is viral.
When was the last time you read something that made you stop scrolling?
Now, think about what you did next.
Did you click “like”? Leave a comment? Share it with someone? Or did you just move on?
Exactly. We scroll. We absorb and move on.
Why is it so hard to say “thank you” online?
After all, you are already holding the phone, thumbs primed for action. Tapping “love this!” wouldn’t break a sweat. So why don’t we say, “Hey, it made my day, Thank you!”?
I’ll tell you why.
We’ve forgotten how.
Imagine this scenario.
You’re at a friend’s house. They’ve made you a killer lasagna. You eat it, enjoy it, and maybe even go back for seconds. When the meal’s over, you stand up, grab your keys, and walk out without a word.
Sounds insane, right? No one does that in real life.
But online? It happens every single day.
I see it in my work. An article gets thousands of views. And still, only a handful of people say something. A like. A comment. Anything.
