Coney Island Subway Firework Party ($50, Coney Island): This party starts in NYC and ends at the boardwalk at Coney Island where you dance and watch the fireworks. Check in time: 6:30pm — 7:30pm

In 2015, nearly 300,000 people took advantage of the open streets

Citi Summer Streets 2016 (FREE, Manhattan): Nearly seven miles of New York City’s streets will be opened up for everyone to play, run, walk and bike. From the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, along Park Avenue and connecting streets, you can experience the city’s streets in a new way — all for free. From 7am to 1pm.

World’s Fair Nano ($47, NoMad): A two-day tech festival with interactive exhibits, live art, futurist talks, spontaneous performances, music, food, and more! Starts at 11am

Sunday

Queens Book Festival (FREE, Flushing Meadows): The first Queens Book Festival will offer an array of panels, children’s story time readings, a vast book market and a wide range of activities suited to families and folks of every age.

Star Wars Marathon ($57, Brooklyn): The Alamo Drafthouse will show its love for the movie trilogy that changed so many of our lives for the better, with incredibly rare screenings of the special edition versions of IV, V, and VI. Buy tickets NOW and be there at 3pm, at least.

All Weekend

Lincoln Center Out of Doors (FREE, Lincoln Center): Lincoln Center’s outdoor summer festival celebrates its 46th season this summer with music and more performances. Ends 8/13

Mad Decent Block Party ($45, MCU Park): Mega-popular DJ-producer Diplo brings his label’s traveling party back to MCU Park in Coney Island. Expect the combined energy of Governors Ball and Panorama Music Festival packed into a two-day block party. Starts at 1:30pm each day.

Celebrate Brooklyn! (FREE, Prospect Park): A favorite among Brooklyn’s summertime concert series, it is set at the beautiful Prospect Park Bandshell, where tons of seating and tree-shaded areas make for a lovely spot for a picnic, a plastic cup of wine and a free show. Starts at 7:30pm each day
