When Obama announced in 2015 that same sex marriage is now officially legal the whole world was watching and cheering.
In Germany it is still in disscusion whether everyone is treated equally concerning marriage, adoption and law.
New Zealand is way ahead of them.

In 2013 a law passed that same sex marriage is legal. It was the 13th country to legalise same-sex marriage and the first in the Asia-Pacific region.

What makes me wonder the most is that “big countries” like the USA needed two years longer than a “small country” like New Zealand. Two years seem very short considering how much time usually goes by to pass a law but living as a homosexual person or a person from an LGTB community it is a very long time.

During my research I noticed the huge amount of supporters and organizations. For the size of New Zealand compared to other countries it is a very large number of supporters.

Coming back to my headline: How equal is New Zealand?
In my opinion New Zealand is as equal as it gets today. Society has been changing but I don’t think that it is a 100% prejudice free. I don’t know if society can achieve that but there are too many people out there who are still in the 1900’s with their thoughts. I think it is great that New Zealand is as far as it is. They statuted a role model position for the whole world.

New Zealand is equal. If you want to look up some of the organizations here are some links:
